Craftsman

I joined LinkedIn in 2016 (approx)

As I was running my own personal company (1 employee, me) the first thing I did was to set my profile as CEO (chief executive officer)

Later I realized I was a more tech guy than a manager, and I changed my profile to CTO (chief tech officer). The company still had 1 employe

During several years, and as I felt very comfortable in a unique employee company, I used the CPT label (Chico Para Todo: Guy For Everything) but nobody understood the joke

A few years later, someone told me nobody wanted to hire a CPT (btw he didnt know what a CPT was), so I changed my profile to Software Architect. With my experience I didn’t feel as a "simple" developer

Recently I re-read the book "The software craftsman," and I’ve changed again my profile, but this time I’m felt is the right label

Back to 1992

I discovered the Lab room in the Economic University. In these days nobody believed computer will be necessary to analizy data so a room full of computers was mine. I applied for an intern position and promised to myself I will completed my studies when start earning money. Maybe next year…

1997, CEO of EDN

After a few years as employee in a consulting company I had the oportunity to start my own company and offer my services to one customer (a big internatitonal company, NCR). I a couple of years we were a small team of "Comanders" working in edge projects. But to the 2002 crisis it doesnt mather.

2010, PuraVida Software

PuraVida (costa rica expression) , Open Source Open Mind, was my personal trademark/company for almost 10 years. I don’t mind admitting that I cried the day I signed the closing of the company. One of the best thing it happened during this period was discover Groovy/Grails, a similar language to java, and my introducction to Open Source word and the "Community" giving my first talks

Also was the period I decided to complete the Grado en Informatica. It took me 10 years!!!

2020, Data Science

For the 2020-30 period I decided to be a "Data Science" but … I hate Python :(

fortunately I had the oportunity to work for Seqera/Nextflow and as is Groovy I’ve half of the path done
